What Did You Do Today?

Centre of equal daughters, equal sons,
All, all alike endear'd, grown, ungrown, young or old,
Strong, ample, fair, enduring, capable, rich,
Perennial with the Earth, with Freedom, Law and Love,
A grand, sane, towering, seated Mother,
Chair'd in the adamant of Time.

Walt Whitman

I am amazed at all the early voting, all the long lines, all the folks that spending their free time waiting to cast their ballots. Amen!

Our sleepy little mountain precinct was a buzz with kindergarteners in gym class, but quiet for voters. We went at lunch time, not a huge rush then. The young poll workers assured me that there had been a rush before work and as parents dropped their children off for school. I thanked them. Both girls remarked that these were not the usual cadre of retirees. Things are a changin'. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

Zoey was excited to go voting with me, Vivi helped color in the circles. I always take my girls voting with me, but this was the first time they were excited. They can sense the charge in the air.

I really wanted to vote before school so that I could be wearing my "I voted" sticker to show my students. We participated in a national students vote activity yesterday and they had gotten their stickers -- they were glad to see it.

I waited about 5 min to vote. No biggie.

I usually take my kids with me but it didn't work out this year. They knew who I was voting for and how important it was! :)

Lucky Alaska not to have long lines. Trixie, for early voting last Saturday in NC there was a three-hour wait! Wow! It's good to see enthusiasm - much needed in previous administrations. And, your girls are learning how important this day is...

A great experience for your girls, Trixie! There certainly seems to be a charge in the air, but I am quite eager for it to be over. I see you are a lefty. I've always thought lefties were interesting folks.

Lorelei MADE US WAIT TO VOTE until she was out of school. She pitched a major fit when we said that we might vote before she got home!

Well, it's over. And She is on her way back. What do people up there think of it?

Good for you taking the girls along--children seeing parents "do what's right"--the best way to teach them.

Wasn't it awesome? I've voted in every election since my 18th birthday, but it's all been local stuff, so this was exciting. Campus has been buzzing and yesterday was a HUGE climax in that--great to see so much passion as opposed to the usual apathy.

I heard from one of my co-workers that one of the polling places here in Rochester actually had "children's ballots" so the kids could cast their vote too, so his 2 kids got to vote. We were fortunate there was no line at our little township voting venue also (I was #310 at 2:30 PM in the afternoon)

Good show, sis. Can't say I'm sorry y'all up in the Far North don't get to ship your gov Outside. Always kind of liked John McC (didn't always agree w/him), but he changed during this election cycle & not for the better.

I did my bit absentee since I was visiting a client bank on E-day.
