Heard in the Hood

Vivi and I were browning meat for stew today. She opened the sliding glass door to let some smoke out (we have no hood over the stove) and came running back. She was exhilarated and scared at the same time. She heard something, but wasn't sure what it was. So, I stepped out onto the deck to hear a wolf calling.

I have heard wolves here before, but never in daylight. It is amazing. I've been scoping for him, but have yet to get a visual. When Tom comes home from Hatcher's Pass, he and I may walk down there and see if we can see a moose kill or something.

I've got goosebumps!
I would be thrilled to see a wolf in the wild.

Beluga. Moose. Bear. Goshawk. WOLF.
I SO want to come visit you.
Seeing and/or hearing a wolf would be so fantastic. We only get their low-rent cousins (coyotes) around here.

Wow, that's pretty neat Trixie. I've heard them in northern Minnesota and it was definitely worth waking up in the middle of the night and sitting outside freezing in my pajamas for a chance to hear them howling.

Good thing the VP candidate's making the rounds down here--she'd be scouting him, too!

See? Vivi really needs that big stick for her TR outfit. She sure better not be little Red Riding Hood like her cousin Claire was a couple times years ago...unless she can run real fast to Grandma's house.

How exciting, Trixie! Please keep us posted and let us know if you spot a kill or even the wolf itself.

Woooo--I love your girls' asking, and then your somewhat timorous answer--it's a wolf, guys, a wolf.

We have coyotes but no WOLVES. Awesome!

Guess who was sitting next to me and raised their ears? C&B never heard a wolf before...

Wow.

That sounds like Halloween. Our ghost down here is evaporation: our rainy season has ended, and now evaporation has taken over the water cycle.

Wow! that is the type of area where I'd like to live.-People killed all the wolves that once lived in CT.
