Two Days

Two days ago my world looked like this, lovely fall in Eagle River Valley.

There were several chickadees on my deck vying for sunflower seeds.

And moose in the yard, browsing.

We now have snow, actually sticking. We have been plowed twice. On Sunday evening I could not get out of my neighborhood since every ding-dong in the Anchorage bowl with bald tires and no studs decided to come look at the pretty snow. About 9:30p the temperature dropped enough to make driving down a safe adventure. We would not have left, except Zoey had been at a youth group activity. We were three hours late to pick her up. Thank heavens for good friends. As we were driving down we saw about a dozen abandoned vehicles. It was like an M. Night Shyamalan movie, or the rapture or something. The winter driving debut of the new Honda CRV is extremely positive. Not to be overlooked Tom, who had the foresight to get my snow tires on on Saturday. YIPPY!

So, with all this winter weather, what is a gal to do? Why, make suet dough for the birds. I also made a fantastic beef stew for us people, but I didn't get any pictures of it.

Oh, my goodness! I can't believe you've got that much snow all ready. It sounds like it was a good time to stay in and do some cooking.

May I say, "Holy." And "Crap." ?

Does October snow stay, or will you get a melt before the real stuff comes?

That looked like real stuff to me. :)

My kids would love to get that much snow now, but I really hope it will last a couple of months before we get snow here ;)

It is beautiful though with the first snowfall...

I'm stunned. Shocked. I didn't expect to see white. Already?

Is it early for this stuff? Isn't your winter long enough?

I'm still hearing CRICKETS!

I know, it's Alaska, but

Stay warm, Trixie....

Whoa Trixie! What a shock to look out your window and see all that snow already.
I love your moose--is that one of this year's calves out on her own already or an adult?
What a clever way to make suet for hanging feeders--do you use the "Zick dough" recipe for that?

I hope you'll LOVE your CRV.
We've had one for 6 years, and still agree--it's the best car we've owned!!
