Today was the first day of testing this year. For those of you in school, no big deal. For us homeschoolers it is a pain! We have to totally adjust schedules, be somewhere in the mornings. And for me it consumes every day off I have this week. The only saving grace this year is that daylight savings time moved back three weeks. It was an evil double whammy when testing followed on the heels of the dreaded spring forward.
Zoey handles it all just fine. She even popped out of bed when the alarm went off. She ate a good breakfast, she drank tea in the car, she did some breathing exercises to increase the oxygen in her blood. I drank coffee and tried not to swear in front of the children.
To treat us all when testing was over, I drove down to the Ship Creek salmon hatchery because I had heard there were hundreds of bohemian waxwings there on Sunday. No such luck. What we did find was some Barrow's Goldeneyes hanging with some mallards in the hatchery pond. Nice surprise.
Click and enlarge that photo, it was pretty cool. The girls were jacked!
